Version v0.9.14 on T-Deck Plus:

USB serial log shows a lot of messages like
[E][vfs_api.cpp:105] open(): <path> does not exist, no permits for creation,
although (immediate) usage of the firmware seems not to be affected.
Affects both /spiffs and /sd.

Also, there are random failures to open map tiles (which are already present, and eventually get loaded), like
[E][vfs_api.cpp:301] VFSFileImpl(): fopen(/sd/tiles/10/550/341.png) failed
followed by
[E][sd_diskio.cpp:624] ff_sd_status(): Check status failed.,
which actually results in the tiles staying blank in the map view for some time.

Examples:

[2265201][E][vfs_api.cpp:105] open(): /spiffs/clipboard.txt.tmp does not exist, no permits for creation

[2265228][E][vfs_api.cpp:105] open(): /spiffs/clipboard.txt.bak does not exist, no permits for creation

[  2969][E][vfs_api.cpp:105] open(): /sd/MCTerm/primary_state_v2/identity_main.bin does not exist, no permits for creation

[  3576][E][vfs_api.cpp:105] open(): /spiffs/mcterm_boot_src.bak does not exist, no permits for creation

[  3894][E][vfs_api.cpp:105] open(): /sd/MCTerm/primary_state_v2/contacts3.bin does not exist, no permits for creation

[  8152][E][vfs_api.cpp:105] open(): /spiffs/tiles does not exist, no permits for creation

[820040][E][vfs_api.cpp:105] open(): /spiffs/state_v2/bl/DF3DA83A64A111F1 does not exist, no permits for creation

[1251652][E][vfs_api.cpp:105] open(): /spiffs/state_v2/bl/BE252B[CONTACT_OP] delete key=54<CENSORED> immediate=1 async_save=1 before=250 after=249
36F36E22E9 does not exist, no permits for creation

[1943933][E][vfs_api.cpp:105] open(): /sd/MCTerm/mesh_prefs.txt does not exist, no permits for creation

[1944099][E][vfs_api.cpp:105] open(): /sd/MCTerm/lockscreen.png does not exist, no permits for creation

(<CENSORED> is a replacement I have made.)

There are many other examples with other types of paths emitting similar error messages.

  • #348 and #343 seem to be related (when one of it is happening, also the other one).
  • The map tile error part of #357 might be related to #348 and #343 -- actually, vieweing the map reliably triggers #348 and #343.
  • I don't know if #355 is related to #348 or #343.

Can the SD card issues and this issue in WadaMesh be somehow related -- here that the SD card is driven too fast in some scenarios? (Just a very far fetched idea maybe, to not take it for granted.)
