Describe the bug

The release notes for version 0.9.12 say

  • T-Deck Plus: Alt+S and SYM key now cycle input modes
    • Pressing Alt+S on the hardware keyboard cycles through all four input modes: uppercase, lowercase, SYM1, and SYM2

But that is wrong!

<Alt>+<S> does just the same than pressing <SYM>: Cycling through no on screen keyboard overlay, SYM1 on screen keyboard overlay, and SYM2 on screen keyboard overlay.
NO Uppercase ("CapsLock"-function).

The release note I cited above is also in direct conflict with what is just written a few lines below:

Alt+S now jumps straight to SYM1 from any normal input mode and stepping it again moves to SYM2 then back

Which device are you using

LilyGO T-Deck Plus

Which Firmware are you using

v0.9.12

Additional remarks

Please do not trust an LLM!

fixed in v0.9.12.1 - i did not tell my 'friend' the final plan to implement what i thought about.

  • T-Deck Plus keyboard: make Alt+S cycle through all four input modes, including uppercase/lowercase, instead of only stepping through the symbol overlays (#223).

In v0.9.12.3 not working as described:

<Alt>+<s> pressed once does not change anything (still lowercase characters are entered), pressed twice shows SYM1 screen, pressed a third time shows SYM2 screen, pressed a fourth time goes back to the beginning.

LilyGo T-Deck Plus.

Fixed in v0.9.14

on the T-Deck, Alt+S now cycles lowercase → UPPERCASE → SYM1 → SYM2. The editor shows "abc" or "ABC", and hardware-keyboard letters follow it.
