## Introducing NFT.Storage: Free Decentralized Storage for NFTs
@[youtube](JUaq7YnTj1I)
We are excited to introduce [**NFT.Storage**](https://nft.storage/), a service backed by Protocol Labs and Pinata specifically for storing NFT data. NFT.Storage allows developers to protect their NFT assets and associated metadata through content addressing and decentralized storage – ensuring that all NFTs follow best practices to stay accessible long-term.
NFT.Storage lets developers store NFT data on decentralized networks easily, securely, and for free! With just a few lines of code, anyone can leverage the power of IPFS and Filecoin to ensure the persistence of their NFTs. [**Learn more about how it works, how to participate and what’s next.**](https://filecoin.io/blog/posts/introducing-nft.storage-free-decentralized-storage-for-nfts/)
The IPFS April Meetup was yesterday, Tuesday, April 27th and it was all about NFTs! In case you missed it, catch up on all things IPFS and non-fungibles, hosted by Molly Mackinlay, IPFS project lead. Featuring presentations from:
## All Things Hackathons - a look back at March 2021
* Yusef Napora, Protocol Labs software engineer, covering NFT x IPFS best practices, and introducing Minty and nft.storage.
* Ariel Klevecz, creator of Yaytso, covering “NFT Hacking in the Eggverse” – an introduction to algorithmically personalized 3D eggs.
* The creators of nft.base, a DAO-based metaverse marketplace and community for NFTs, a project initiated during NFTHack.
In the past two months Protocol Labs participated in five different hackathon events, ranging in audience from university builders, to game designers, to blockchain hackers all building on IPFS and Filecoin. Chainlink’s spring hackathon, which kicked off earlier in March, wrapped up mid-month, followed closely by the start of Gamedev.js JAM 2021 where IPFS sponsored a special decentralized track. Cal Hacks’ hello:world event, a weekend-long endeavor, began the same day at Scaling Ethereum, an event hosted by ETHGlobal focused on developing robust infrastructure for the Ethereum blockchain.

## Using IPFS to help with Scaling Ethereum, now through 5/13

Hacking for Scaling Ethereum is ongoing through May 13! As the Ethereum community looks to enter the sixth year of collaborating on the world’s most actively used blockchain, many builders eagerly anticipate the next phase of Eth2. Both the IPFS and Filecoin projects will be showing their support for the Ethereum community during the event. Protocol Labs has four prize options for teams focused on NFT metadata stored on IPFS, Filecoin retrieval, IPFS CIDs, or disputing Window PoST proofs in Filecoin. For more information, [**check out this post.**](https://blog.ipfs.io/2021-04-14-scaling-ethereum/)
Rounding out the month was ASUC’s CivHacks event, another weekend-long university event with the goal of using technology to accomplish social good and civic outreach. Check out the IPFS blog for details on these events and for updates and announcements of future hackathons.
