I am trying to connect to irc.piraattipuolue.fi and fi.pirateirc.net port 6697.
ZNC doesn't accept the certificate for some reason (it's being investigated) and I try to follow the instructions If you trust this certificate, do /znc AddTrustedServerFingerprint 12:93:bc:ed:0a:2e:ed:b6:1c:24:e6:43:61:6d:42:90:52:aa:fc:0d:a9:01:be:53:87:ac:8c:d0:14:65:df:53.
However the command appears to do nothing even if it gets added to trustedfingerprints and I just get repeated to add these fingerprints:
Are you typing the fingerprint by hand? Even the length is different between what is in the list vs what it tells you to add. You mistyped it, and it doesn't work.
Use clipboard.

I'm not completely sure about the details, but how about making the code check if the given text looks like a fingerprint? For example:
it should be a series of colon-separated two-character hex values.
The length of the string should match the digest length of md5 / sha1 / some sha2 hash.

I was copy-pasting it with Glowing Bear which apparently cannot be used to this task. Thanks
