So, I tested this off of git master obtained just about 30 - 45 minutes ago (ZNC 1.5-git-333-227f2cf) and I was unable to reproduce this issue with any of the themes.

Confirmed, works in ZNC 1.5-git-333-227f2cf. I could swear I updated...

Anyway, problem solved, stay up to date kids. :D
