As the tittle suggests. It would be nice if a network name alias could be added for the sake of renaming networks ThAT-UsE-NamEs-LiKE-ThIS-NET and rename them to something a bit more suiting eg. LikeThat-NET

I think he's rather talking about what is sent in the initial connection period (i don't know which number this message is sent with), e.g. modify this string: CHANTYPES=#~ EXCEPTS INVEX CHANMODES=eIbq,k,flj,CFLMPQScgimnprstz CHANLIMIT=#:120 PREFIX=(ov)@+ MAXLIST=bqeI:100 MODES=4 NETWORK=freenode KNOCK STATUSMSG=@+ CALLERID=g are supported by this server
see the NETWORK=freenode part

I'm talking about renaming the network to show a different (more structured) name on the clientside of the connection. Now it gets the name and just echoes it to your client but I want to get in between and format the networkname before it is send to the user.
So for example. I just renamed the network above to LikeThat-NET and now my IRC client will show:
LikeThat-NET
#lounge
#help
Instead of:
ThAT-UsE-NamEs-LiKE-ThIS-NET
#lounge
#help
I hope this makes more sense.
