Vhosts were confusing because people made the names up without caring/knowing about DNS.
Bindhosts are confusing because it's too technical term, which is usually used for listening sockets instead.
So people who don't know what is bind(), have no clue what this setting is about, and people who do know what is it, think that it affects the listening socket of ZNC.

Need a good new name for this.

I don't think any name will make this much easier. It's just too uncommon (and highly technical) for a box to have more than one IP address which then have different RDNS entries.

I know this is an old issue, but it would potentially be useful to have a tooltip on the Bindhost settings in the webadmin interface, in the same manner as some of the other settings have, explaining what it means

👍 to the previous comment or we can just continue explaining on #znc. I don't thnk there are any clearer words and the change would just cause flood of questions on what happened to the bindhost and what is this whateverhost thing.
I also think that this issue should either be closed and new issue with title "show tooltip on what bindhost is" opened or title of this issue changed to that.
