I set my awaynick to: %nick%_offline, which uses my current nick and appends _offline, that works great.

However, when I re-connect, I get my %defnick%, not my %nick% (http://wiki.znc.in/ExpandString). I'd rather have my previous nick restored, not the default.

how is this a duplicate of #76? it clearly isn't, as #76 talks about restoring nicks upon znc's reconnect to irc. this ticket talks about when the irc client reconnects to znc.

i'm experiencing the same problem. if i've changed my nick from the default in znc's config, and i disconnect, it correctly uses my current nick with "|off" at the end (as i've configured with "%nick%|off"). however, when i reconnect to irc, it restores my default nick, not my previous one (what %nick% would evaluate to).

Actually, when your nick is nick|off, %nick% is nick|off too, just because it's the current nick.
So this issue should sound more like... "/nick should change default nick, not only current nick"
