Describe the bug
Issue: With Hugo, when the preview is opened, every update reloads the CMS panel and the preview steals the input focus!

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Create a site
  2. Open the preview window
  3. Type a sentence of text as new content
  4. Cannot complete the sentence as input key focus is stolen by the preview browser panel

Expected behavior
Being able to input text uninterrupted.

Device:

  • OS: Win11
  • Front Matter CMS: eliostruyf.vscode-front-matter-beta Version 10.8.13176977
  • Browser: None (Preview panel in VS Code)

@bernhardkaindl, that is odd behavior, as I don't see this happening. I've also been using Hugo for a long time and never stumbled upon this issue.

I created a new site via the getting started guide from Hugo, and made a first post on which I tried to lose the focus.

This was tested on macOS, will now do the same for Windows.

I just tested on Windows, and I had a similar experience as above. Can it be another extension that is causing this?

The same thing happens to me in Windows 11.
When I press Ctrl+S to save, the panel reloads and the focus disappears from the text editor.

But only when the preview window is open.

There is no other extensions enabled in the workspace.

10.9.0

VS Code:

That's Hugo, not any extension. It makes the dev server unusable every now and then because it steals focus from wherever you are (for instance the Front Matter Dashboard) to focus the browser into the front. The only way is to move to a hugo version that is NOT breaking. v0.147.0 did it; newer versions might be fixed again or disable live-reload in your Hugo site.
