I see that in the Default Frontend there is an option to see what sessions are in existence. Are there any plans to build this out with more robust access control?

We have a group of us that is engineering and administering a "small"
regional mesh. We're up to about 20 nodes now and might end up trying to
use this as more than just a monitor. There's a project for Meshtastic
called MeshMonitor that also gives the ability to remotely administer nodes
in the network right from the MeshMonitor GUI. Being able to have
individual accounts / access control for configs, etc. as well as a "view
only" mode would be great. The ability to connect to other nodes to
administer them would also be mighty cool :)
Thanks for entertaining other ideas.

oh man. we are SO on the same wavelength. This might be a longer term project, but I'm aligned!
new session view coming soon in the next release:
