The host I run openHop on has an MTA forwarder (nullmailer) set up, such that I can see things like "security alerts to root". It is via this that I get a trio of messages about every day reporting on an attempt to run systemctl start openhop-plugin-manager by a process that doesn't have root privileges to do so:
pigrunt : Sep 6 21:16:05 : repeater : a password is required ; PWD=/var/lib/openhop_repeater ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/bin/systemctl start openhop-plugin-manager
I'm unsure about where to dig into what's causing this, and I'm not as familiar with this codebase as others are. But I'd imagine this is occurring for everyone, but that few actually sets up an MTA forwarder on their linux hosts. I do see that the openhop-plugin-manager is running on my machine.
