would be handy if an env variable allows the map legend to be collapsed by default

as well as one that collapses the spacing at the top of the page to maximize screen space use for people running the web portal as an always on mesh monitor on a monitor or tv

This also bothered me. Instead of making it configurable, I'll just default to a collapsed legend and only display the button.
