using version 0.9.8.prerelease1 of this firmware on Lilygo T-Deck plus, I miss (if it is there, I do not know how to find it) a feature to enter more special characters than which are accessible via the keyboard.
e.g. [], to address users (@[<username>]) and to interact with one bot on our community.
I hereby feature-suggest an on screen keyboard that offers at least all the chatacters that are also available on a typical computer keyboard, even better: Option to offer all diacritics of european latin language based languages, sub-option: Also other european non-latin characters.
Regards!

There is a "reply" option that does exactly that (introduced in 0.9.6, see https://github.com/dabeani/meshcore/issues/46), but it of course only works if that person or bot sent a message to reply to. It is not yet possible to mention someone "out of the blue".

That is exactly what I feature-wish to.
And more general to be able to type some basic non-alphanumeric
characters that are not on the physical T-Deck keyboard.

Additionally, this is also important to be able to configure WLAN networks where the ESSID or password needs other characters than available of the built-in keyboard.

Related, but not the same: #35, #318.
Seems to have been silently implemented in v0.9.12 in the minimal version of offering some special characters.
