In case you haven't tried it and it is possible to take a walk outside: please try it :). My T-Deck often doesn't get a GPS fix inside...

I tested it on my window for hours 😁. With other firmware, I was able to get a signal indoors as well. The chip is GNSS and has good reception. I’ll test it outside later too.

can you see in the GPS mgmt screen that you receive sentences? after soldering my first gps module I did not even receieve sentences and after some googling found out I had to cross-solder the TX / RX wires : TX on tdeck board to RX on GPS Module and RX on tdeck board to TX on GPS module (this is because the gps connector is a grove connector and has a different wire order)
for my module I also did set the baud-rate to 9600
after that I could get a fix, but only outside. Finally I upgraded my GPS antenna to a 25x25mm ceramic module instead of the small block and since my gps works very good

I think the issue is software-related in the pre-release version. I have a signal, and the GPS is on, but it doesn’t get a fix.

I don't know how you mounted the GPS antenna, but when you put it outside trying to get a fix make sure the cerarmic part is pointing toward the sky
Edit: I just looked at the datasheet of this module and saw that is has no external GPS antenna connection...

No no, I have a ceramic antenna inside.
I just flashed another firmware and got a GPS fix inside my apartment in 10–15 seconds.
Near windows, it’s even faster - around 10 seconds. While walking indoors, I can also get speed readings 😄.
So, the GPS itself is not the problem.

ah, I just see you are using firmware_tdeckplus_v0.9.6.prerelease-merged.bin (is that available somewhere?) so it might be a bug in this prerelease..

Not available yet, yes it's a bug :)

Now its better. Find fix inside but only 5 satelites. Outside I got maximum 6. Takes a long time for fix.
I’m about 98% sure the issue is GPS-related. It looks like the initialization for the other GNSS providers is missing, so it’s probably relying only on GPS, without using the other satellite systems (GLONASS, Galileo, etc.), even though the u-blox chip should support them.
Right now, I’m seeing a maximum of 5-6 satelites outside, so both outside and indoors. Yesterday tested with another fw (Tactility) just to verify gps, in the same conditions, I had around 12 satellites outside - and even indoors (fix is got in 10sec inside) - so clearly some satellites aren’t being used at all.
> How is your feelings with v0.9.7 in this regards?

Has this actually be resolved, @dobrishinov, @skykingisepic? If so, I suggest closing the issue, if not, maybe update your findings with firmware version 0.9.11.

T-Deck now getting a fix in 2-4 minutes sitting in window and holding 25 sats with 9.9

Seems to be getting a fix and showing data now.
