try the following:
go to MAP, and choose the zoom what you like as default - only zoom in or out and leave it!
go to Mgmt / UI -> MAP and press the Default Zoom level SET button once.

With this procedure the default zoom level should be set to what it showed to you in the MAP.
Let me know if it works.

Oh, so that’s how it works - it just saves the current zoom level. I was expecting it to iterate through different zoom levels when I clicked Set 🤣
It works fine this way, though. Honestly, it’s a bit confusing the first time because I don’t know which zoom level I’m currently on. But given that behavior, it works exactly as you described.

And, how is the feeling about it? Should we change it and place a up/down button insted of the "set" button to switch the level there? For me its a bit confusing to only have the level number there due to not knowing what is which level. But, i am open for adapt it to make it easier.

Or is it enough to document it clearly?

If the zoom level is shown when the user zooms in or out, you could briefly display the value and replace the settings option with simple up/down buttons. One possible place to show the zoom level would be in the top-left corner, under the node name - the same area where sorting information is displayed in the contacts screen.

Displaying the zoom level there while the user is zooming would help them understand which level works best. It would also help when preparing offline tiles, since the user would clearly see which zoom level is most suitable for download.

That said, the current implementation is also perfectly fine. This is just a UI suggestion that might improve usability by making the zoom level more visible and intuitive.

i removed this line/button in the Mgmt / UI -> MAP and integrated to save automatically the last zoom level from the MAP. When you scroll / zoom around in the MAP it will save the zoom level - i think that is the easiest way to recognize / see whats going on :)
