v0.9.14: Identity chaos. Identity reset when switching on WiFi and then reboot. #340

I am fed up with all those random issues here, so I am fed up with making effort in writing bug reports.

So just a "dahingerotzter" report.

v0.9.14, T-Deck Plus.

After this, restored backup.

  1. issue: At some point identity was reset to something else.
  2. issue: In Mgmt -> Global -> Identities, saw "2 saved". One Entry "# Internal+SD <HEX1>", one entry "<HEX1>" (same! <HEX1>), one Entry "<HEX2>" (other number). Could switch between the first two, switched to the first. Reboot, and then could not mount SD anymore (primary storage was then internal, could not switch to external (SD card not present was said), and USB log showed some hardware mount error). Power off and on worked.
  3. issue: Could never select the identity with "<HEX2>". Could delete it (although it was told that another was to be deleted).

(Please get some software developers to look at the code. Make it open source. Or so. Sorry, I am fed up with the quality of the project.

I know you have the best intentions, but the results are instable and just killing user's time. Sorry that I am so "blunt" right now, I just feel fed up and a bit raged.

I nevertheless try to get v0.9.14 working with my old identity, somehow.

And if it is too unstable, I just again switch back to WadaMesh. Which also is coded with the help of "vibe" and has vibe-cody issues, but somehow more stable & more looked after the code in my experience)

Restore backup -> Old identity
Switch on WiFi, then switch off device and on again: New identity. Old identity is still displayed in "identities", but cannot select.

Maybe photographs of how the identity management dialogue looks like helps, but for my beeing fed up it is too much work for me currently to pull out my camera, make a photograph, swap the SD card to the computer, get the photograph, crop and censor it. So you are left with my sloppy report here, sorry.

If you would be here I just could show you and debugging in person would be easy and enjoyable.

I move back to WadaMesh if I encounter more breaking issues and cannot mitigate this quickly.

Switch on WiFi, then switch off device and on again: New identity. Old identity is still displayed in "identities", but cannot select.

Can be mitigated when after restoring from backup deleting the other identity (need to delete twice(!), one deletion deletes only one of "internal" or "SD"). Then, after switch on WiFi and then reboot, the identity is not reset (changed to the other identity which was present).

When the identity has changed after switching on WiFi and reboot, the original is still visible in identity manager, but cannot be selected (when I want to select, the dialogue shows the hex key of the wrong identity).

Since this workaround seems to work, I stay here.

I regred a bit if my initial wordings seemed harsh. It were just my feelings after heaving read for two versions that stuff is fixed (instead of "maybe fixed"), but still happening.
