When doing "Mgmt" -> "Channels" -> "Region" -> "Edit", flood routing for the regions can be disabled or enabled.
Why is this setting there? It is a client anyway, no repeater. Or does it take effect when the companion is set to also act as a mobile repeater? (But I do not find this setting anymore in v0.9.12. Maybe I overlooked it?)

yes, wrong place! This will be implemented in the Repeater Admin Menu (but unfinished!).
Found its way to the wrong Menu.
In v0.9.12.1 i will move this to the correct place - but Repeater Admin will be untouched and improved later on!
