Describe the bug
I leave the screen off on my Indicator. It would be helpful to have functionality that turns on the screen temporarily when a new message is received from a specific channel.

Which device are you using
SeeedStudio SenseCap Indicator

Which Firmware are you using
v0.9.11

Additional context
Screen timeout functionality already exists, so pairing this with wake on new message (ideally specific channels) would be great.

did you try Mgmt / UI - Display Blink function?
As soon this is enabled, and you get a message (any message) the display will blink for the defined "ms". Let me know!

Thanks for the reply - Yes I have Display Blink enabled with 500ms timeout, also tried it with 60ms. I previously had Display Timeout set to Off so I tried setting it to 15 seconds and testing again, but the display never comes on with new messages. On the upper left, there are messages saying 'display blink saved' when cycling through options.

I'm happy to help troubleshoot as needed.

According to the release notes for v0.9.14 this should have been fixed.

Can you test, @rw377, and close this issue if you think it has been solved?

Regards!

Thanks for the update- it's a slight improvement, but I wouldn't really say it's working properly. If I let the screen timeout and a message it received, the screen does blink, but it doesn't follow blink settings, its just an instant blink. If I set it to 300ms, 500ms, etc its always the same very quick blink. Ideally, I would like to have the new messages light up the screen for a good 30 seconds or so, not the instant blink of a second that it current is, but even with current available options, the blink duration doesn't seem to be working. But it is an improvement

EDIT: I see from the release notes that the functionality of leaving the screen off then the top button is pressed is intended, which is fine.

Improvement v0.9.15:
Measured on an Indicator with the screen timed off: the blink lasts exactly the configured time (500 ms → 502 ms), but anything below a second looks like one quick flash — the real gap was the maximum. v0.9.15 adds 1 s … 30 s to Disp Blink Dur (also in the WebUI). From 1 s a new message lights the screen up once for that long and then turns it off again; touching it keeps it on.
