It appears that the "member" (or above) role is required in order to save/update the user profile.

This API needs to be open for all logged-in users regardless of role assignment, or the Profile page should be hidden until roles are assigned.

Secondly, test users appear in "members" list. Test users should have "test" role and be excluded from any public members lists (and stats counts)
