When a receiver/sender service starts, it currently sends a zero-hop advert, this should be a flood advert so the devices name is broadcast

Task Complete

Tasks:

  • Read repository guidelines and setup instructions
  • Locate startup advert code
  • Change flood=False to flood=True
  • Commit and push changes

Changes Made

Changed the startup advertisement from flood=False to flood=True in src/meshcore_hub/interface/receiver.py:88.

Before:

# Send a local (non-flood) advertisement to announce presence
if self.device.send_advertisement(flood=False):
    logger.info("Sent local advertisement")

After:

# Send a flood advertisement to broadcast device name
if self.device.send_advertisement(flood=True):
    logger.info("Sent flood advertisement")

This ensures that when a receiver/sender service starts, it broadcasts a flood advertisement so the device name is transmitted throughout the mesh network.
