MarekWoandClaude Opus 5 93f171a1c1 fix(demo): make the demo notice readable on the console page
console.html and logs.html are always-dark terminal pages that
deliberately do not load theme.css, so the var(--text-secondary) the
notice asked for resolved to nothing there and the text fell back to
Bootstrap's near-black body colour — roughly 1:1 against the navy
background, i.e. invisible.

Fixed twice over. Every colour in the demo CSS now carries a fallback,
so a page without theme.css degrades to a readable light notice instead
of to nothing — that closes the whole class of bug rather than this one
instance. And console.html restyles the notice in its own palette,
alongside the other hardcoded colours it already owns.

Measured contrast: console 12.22:1, light theme 7.76:1, dark theme
5.71:1 (WCAG AA for small text is 4.5:1).

MarekWoandClaude Opus 5 be0929a3ae feat(demo): read-only demo mode for a publicly shared instance
mc-webui has no login, which is fine on a LAN and not fine once the
address is handed to testers: they assume the node is theirs and rename
it, and the console is right there for anyone curious enough to type
into it.

MC_DEMO=true refuses everything that reconfigures the radio, destroys
data, reaches other people's repeaters, rebuilds the containers,
publishes to an external broker, or hands out a secret. Reading and
sending messages keep working, so the instance is still worth visiting.

The guard is default-deny: an api_bp.before_request hook refuses every
non-GET unless it is on a short allowlist, so an endpoint added later is
locked without touching this module. That mattered — six mutating
endpoints already had no frontend caller and would never have made a
hand-written blacklist. A small read denylist covers the GETs that leak
(repeater passwords, backup download, capture download, /api/logs),
which the write guard never sees.

Two paths bypass the HTTP layer and are closed separately: the console
is a Socket.IO event, not a route, so it is checked against a read-only
command set; the log viewer is refused at the connect handshake.

Access is kept two ways. MC_DEMO_TRUSTED_NETS unlocks by CIDR, and
MC_DEMO_UNLOCK_CODE unlocks by a code typed once in Settings and held in
an HMAC cookie for 30 days — stateless, and deliberately not Flask's
session, whose SECRET_KEY is a hardcoded public constant.

The trap the network list walks into: published through a tunnel, every
visitor arrives from the tunnel's address, and if the tunnel runs on the
LAN then trusting the LAN unlocks the instance for the whole internet.
An address arriving with a proxy header is therefore not matched unless
MC_TRUST_PROXY is on, and startup logs report the resulting shape.

Frontend is advisory only: demo-lock.js loads from _head_i18n.html so it
reaches all eight entry points including the six iframes, greys out
[data-demo-lock] rather than hiding it (the instance exists to show the
app off), re-applies via MutationObserver for JS-rendered buttons, and
turns any 403 demo_locked into a toast.

Verified on the local container: the rename, reboot, updater, vacuum,
cleanup and the leaky GETs all 403; sending, read markers and ordinary
reads pass; `set name` is refused over the console socket while `infos`
still answers; unlock/lock round-trips. 86 new unit tests, en/pl at 100%.

MarekWoandClaude Opus 5 3b34dd9646 feat(i18n): translate the DM panel (stage 6)
Covers app/templates/dm.html and app/static/js/dm.js: the sidebar, the
searchable conversation selector, the composer, message bubbles and their
delivery meta, the Contact Info modal, path management, and the repeater
list/map pickers.

The DM panel's path management and repeater pickers are the code the My
Repeaters panel was adapted from, so its strings reuse the repeaters.*
keys added in stage 3a rather than duplicating them. Shared chat chrome
(filter bar, FAB titles, composer placeholder, status bar) goes to a new
chat.* namespace so index.html and app.js can reuse it in stages 7 and 9,
and console.status.* is promoted to common.connected/disconnected/
connecting now that two status bars want the same three words.

formatRelativeTimeDm() was the last of the four local relative-time
implementations; it is gone, folded into formatTimeAgo() from
datetime-utils.js. The contact-info row uses the long form to match the
contacts page, the map popup the short form to match My Repeaters.

Also fixed along the way, both found by grepping this slice's shared
strings against the already-translated panels:

- repeaters.js reset the map picker label from JS in three places with a
hardcoded English string, so the header translated on load and flipped
back to English the moment the picker opened (missed in stage 3a).
- tHtml() on a plural key always renders the "one" form, because only
tn() passes the count to the resolver. That made the repeater picker's
shared-prefix tooltip read "3 repeater ma ten prefiks". Fixed in both
callers and now an error in scripts/i18n_check.py, which had no way to
  catch it.

Left English on purpose: Flood/Direct/FLOOD and the SNR labels (glossary),
and the 'Device path' label written to the DB on import - it is stored
data, so translating it would freeze one language into the row.

Catalog: 471 -> 526 keys, pl at 100%. Verified against the local
container with i18n-diff.js plus a new i18n-stage6-dm.js that drives the
panel through each modal, since the diff tool cannot see hidden ones.

MarekWoandClaude Opus 5 fd32cb414f feat(i18n): translate the Console panel chrome (stage 2)
14 keys: title, connection status, the help hint, history and clear tooltips,
the command placeholder, the scroll-to-latest button, and the two error wrappers.

Everything the Console actually prints stays English, which is most of what is on
screen: the `help` screen, command names, device replies, `(no output)`'s
surroundings. data.output and data.error are composed by the backend and the
firmware, so only the wrapper around them is translated — "Error: {error}"
becomes "Błąd: {error}" with the English message intact. The 'help' inside the
hint text is the literal command name and is marked as such in the template.

"polecenie" over "komenda" for command, matching how Polish software normally
renders CLI terminology.

Also adds F:\tmp\pwverify\i18n-diff.js — a reusable check that renders a page in
both languages and reports every visible string that came out identical. Each hit
is either a missed extraction or something meant to stay English, so it turns
"switch to Polish and hunt for English words" into a list to review rather than a
squint. It pays for itself from stage 3 on, where the slices get large.

Its output for this slice: /console has exactly one identical string, the user's
own device name; /logs has eight, all Python logger names in the module filter.
Both correct.

MarekWoandClaude Opus 5 2ec2f461e2 feat(i18n): add UI translation infrastructure (stage 0)
Groundwork for translating the interface. No strings are extracted yet — this
stage only adds the mechanism, so the UI is byte-identical in English.

Translations are one flat JSON file per language. An admin can add a language by
dropping <lang>.json into $MC_CONFIG_DIR/translations/ and picking it in
Settings > Appearance — no rebuild, no restart, no compile step. A drop-in file
overrides a built-in one of the same name. Built-ins: en (source) and pl.

How it works:
- app/i18n.py loads and merges catalogs over en.json, so per-key English
fallback is baked in server-side and the JS runtime needs no fallback logic.
Catalogs are fingerprinted with stat() per render, so a dropped-in file is
live on the next refresh rather than the next restart — which matters,
because restarting drops the device connection for up to 60s.
- Template text renders server-side via t()/t_html()/tn() from inject_globals(),
so the first paint is already correct. That context processor covers every
render_template() in the app, including the six standalone iframe pages, so
  routes/views.py needed no changes.
- JS text comes from /i18n/<lang>.<hash8>.js, a blocking immutable script shared
by all 8 entry points. The hash is in the path, not a query string, so
intermediary caches and the service worker bust reliably.
- Language = per-browser mc_lang cookie over a server-wide DB default. The
cookie is what makes iframes work: they are same-origin, so they send it
automatically and the existing modal-open reload wiring needs no changes.

t() deliberately does not escape — Jinja autoescape handles that, and escaping
here would double-escape every French apostrophe. t_html()/tHtml() escape their
params but trust catalog markup.

Also fixed along the way:
- save_ui_settings() replaced the whole settings blob instead of merging, so a
language-only POST would have wiped the toast settings. It worked before only
because the one form always submitted every key.
- `const t = document.getElementById(...)` in populateUiSettingsForm shadowed
the global translation helper; same for `var t` in six theme IIFEs.
scripts/i18n_check.py now fails the build if that pattern comes back.
- Removed app/templates/contacts.html, dead since the contacts pages were split
(no render_template reference anywhere), and two stale CSS comments.

Verified locally: catalog route headers/security, drop-in without restart,
malformed catalogs logged and skipped rather than offered in the picker,
cookie propagation into iframes, and 360px layout. Python and JS agree on
interpolation, escaping and Polish plural categories.

MarekWoandClaude Opus 4.7 a571d5388d fix(console): open at bottom, drop Disconnected from transcript, add jump-to-latest button
- Stop persisting "Disconnected" / "Failed to connect" — these are session-local events; saving them made every reopen begin with a stale red error.
- Scroll to the bottom after restoring transcript so reopens land at the latest entry instead of the top.
- Add a floating chat-style jump-to-latest button that appears whenever the user scrolls more than ~80px above the bottom and disappears once they're back at the latest entry.

MarekWoandClaude Opus 4.7 3ef1eac0be feat(console): rename to mc-webui, fix change_path, persist transcript
- Rename "meshcli Console" to "mc-webui Console" (modal title + docs).
- Drop redundant "Connected to..." messages; replace intro with a one-line "Type 'help' for available commands." hint.
- Use a teal device-name style so the header label is readable on the dark background.
- Display contact paths with commas (D1,90,05,54) instead of arrows in `contacts` and `path`, matching the standard MeshCore client.
- Fix `change_path`: previously read only args[2] after shlex split, silently writing a 1-byte path. Now joins remaining args, accepts comma/space/continuous-hex, validates hex, auto-deduces hash_size from comma-chunk length (1/2/3-byte hops), and routes through _change_path_async so path_hash_mode is set and the contacts cache is invalidated.
- Update `help` line and add a usage hint for the no-args form.
- Add capped persistent output transcript: GET/POST/DELETE /api/console/output (cap 500 entries). Console restores prior entries (faded) above a divider on open and exposes a trash button to clear it.

MarekWoandClaude Opus 4.5 c376ecff30 fix: Proxy console WebSocket through main app for HTTPS compatibility
Browser blocks mixed content (HTTPS page -> HTTP WebSocket on port 5001).
Solution: Route WebSocket through main Flask app which goes through
existing HTTPS reverse proxy.

- Add Flask-SocketIO to main mc-webui app
- WebSocket handler proxies commands to bridge via HTTP
- Remove port 5001 external exposure (no longer needed)
- Remove duplicate title from console header
