I haven't tried everything, but so far my attempts to destroy the settings dialog on exciting it have failed.

Note that I'd like settings.py to be an independent module which can be called on it's own.

It wasn't so bad when the windows refreshed so often, but with recent optimizations (thanks @rfschmid !) it's pretty noticeable and requires a channel change.
