📝 Problem Description

Left side menu is a statical area that in certain use cases occupies screen real estate.

🚦 Current Behavior

Left side menu is a statical area.

🎯 Expected Behavior

Left side menu should be able to be colapsed on request like in HomeAssistant vertical menu or other web apps.
Or at least resized (but would be better to be a retractible menu).

  • Firmware version: Meshcore-Dev 06-Jun-2026/v1.16.0-07a3ca9
  • Hardware / board type: Xiao S3 WIO

🔌 Connection to the Radio

  • Connected directly to the radio, or through an intermediary? Directly
  • Transport: Serial (USB)

💻 Environment Information

  • OS: Windows 11 x64
  • Browser / Version: MS Edge Version 150.0.4078.48 (Official build) (64-bit)
  • RemoteTerm Version: v3.16.2·f8f6842 "wrapped" HA add-on/app

Hmm, the tricky bit is that many of the menu items beyond the top level app panes all require words to be clear/usable -- would you envision hiding all the channels/contacts/etc.?

Hmm, the tricky bit is that many of the menu items beyond the top level app panes all require words to be clear/usable -- would you envision hiding all the channels/contacts/etc.?

Yes, if the Menu bar is colapsed, only the "icons" for those areas will be visible.
Since this will mostly be usable when the user is focussing on a "work" right area, the channels/contacts/etc not being visible will not matter.
When the user needs that info could just unhide the menu area.
And give Menu icons for the Favorites, Channels, Contacts, Repeaters, Room Servers, even thou they expand in the menu area, this will be visual aligned with the others menus and when the menu area is hidden it will have a icon ...
