RemoteTerm currently requires manual theme selection with no way to automatically follow the OS dark/light mode preference. Users who expect apps to sync with their system appearance setting have to manually pick a theme, and the default (original, dark) may not match their OS preference.
Current behaviour
Theme selection is stored in localStorage and applied on load — there is no detection of the OS prefers-color-scheme preference. On a fresh install with no saved theme the app always starts in the default dark theme.
Feature request
Add a "Follow OS" / Auto option to the theme selector — when chosen, the app automatically applies an appropriate light or dark theme based on the OS preference and updates live when the user changes their system appearance setting.
Consider making "Follow OS" the default for new installs — defaulting to auto rather than a fixed dark theme would give new users a sensible out-of-the-box experience without any manual configuration.
Happy to contribute a PR if the direction sounds good — just wanted to check alignment on the approach first.

Ended up just building it heh 🙂 I'm not going to make the default follow-OS, mainly because I like the dark mode as a standard look and feel/visual brand, but happy to give people the issue to have their OS drive the coloring if they choose to.

Yeah sounds good to have that as a default selection; greenlight on a PR 🙂
