I sometimes experienced this problem:
I sarted to populate a category with some pictures. But after a while, I realised that my pictures can be organized differently:
not in the right category, or must be inside a subcategory.
I did not find an easy way to administrate such a moving. It would be nice to have such an admin feature.
Additional information: The aim is to keep all hit counters, comments, tags, titles, descriptions, date_available, etc...
in order to not disturb the history, or sorting.
The old pictures, even moved should still be an old one, and should not appears as a new added picture in the system (in other words, I would not like them to be among the "recent_pictures")

<!-- github-sync-id:97225806 -->
copy all the pictures I want to move into the new categories.
write down (on a paper, in a file on my computer) which old element_id/image_id corresponds to new element_id.
edit my database and alter manually the tables:
_comments: replace the old id by the id (for each moved pictures)
_images: copy paste from old to new: date_available, name, comment, author, hit, date_metadata_update, average_rate
_image_tag: replace the old id by the new id
_rate: replace the old id by the new id
Then I remove physically the files from the old category.
Then I perform a sync with pwg to clean the database with old references.
It takes me some times to do so.
I also may miss some steps...

What I do today when I need to do so:
