I did a fresh install on a new server, Ubuntu 18.04. The install went fine and I landed on the admin page. However, when I tried to create my first album, I got:

SyntaxError: JSON Parse error: Unrecognized token '<'

There was no JSON or HTML manually entered by me. I merely gave the album a name and hit "create."

this problem is still open and in my case actually blocks auto uploads for mobile app permanently.
I work within a container with piwigo 13 and the error appears in jquery.min.js line 3450.
whenever it appears the only way around it is to restart the container. when I do this, the errored uploads restart immediately.
the photos or videos that previously were in error are uploaded without any issue.
same issue happens with web not just mobile.
so it looks like some cache is not flushing periodically and if something gets stuck, it hangs in that state.
so far the workaround for me is to stop and start the container every hour.
my container is from linuxserver latest (arm processor), I have video js plugin installed, mobile app set up and php file altered to allow all kind of files, ffmpeg, mediainfo, exiftool etc - all is in place.

after update to 13.4.0 the workaround no longer works.
