It would be great, if there was an option to see the direct image link (or a direct link button), other than right clicking the image and select view image.
A direct link might be important for several reasons. Take Twitter as an example: if you just use the link shown in the browser URL, Twitter clients do not show the image as a preview. But if you use the direct link, voilà - it works.
What do you think? Does this make any sense?

If you are on the hosting Piwigo.com ask them directly
If not, that due to the official compatibility : the author doesn't maintain the plugin but you can try it (yes install it manually) and if it doesn't work remove the folder

ok, it's partly working. The menu item screws up the menu bar:
The window that pops up also has a few design flaws. Who's the original developer of this plugin? Any chance we can get him/her to update it and make it also compatible wit hthe more common themes?
I'm really bad with css/html, thus I can't be of much help in that area.

The plugin does not seem to be maintained anymore and has a few UI issues. Any chance this functionality can be added to the core. A direct image link seems like a basic function to me.
To follow up on this.

@flop25 @plegall is there a way to get a direct link? as mentioned several times the plugin does not really work with more recent versions of piwigo.
Maybe this can be done as a feature request?
A direct link to the image should be basic functionality anyway. What do you think?

it's a basic feature included in all web browsers including mobile
one's. Rick click->copy image url Or something close
2)in the contrary the main request is about hiding and preventing
hotlinking

Since you are back here is an honest answer :
1) it's a basic feature included in all web browsers including mobile
one's. Rick click->copy image url Or something close
2)in the contrary the main request is about hiding and preventing
hotlinking
3) we are too few
4)that's not a bug

I know, I mentioned this in my original post.
2)in the contrary the main request is about hiding and preventing hotlinking
This doesn't mean that getting a direct link is not important for others.
we are too few
What does that mean?
4)that's not a bug
I never said it was.

Also, to update the link when size changes, in the changeImgSrc javascript code, add the line
jQuery('#direct-url').attr('href', url);
This then shows a Link in the picture info when an admin, and you can easily right click to get the URL. Or click to visit and copy the URL from the address bar.
Not all browsers support Copy URL.
This CAN be accomplished with a custom theme. You need to override picture.tpl template.
After the code that displays visits I have included the following.
```
{if isset($U_PHOTO_ADMIN)}
<div id="Direct Url" class="imageInfo">
<dt>{'Direct URL'|@translate}</dt>
<dd><a id="direct-url" href="{$current.selected_derivative->get_url()}" target="_blank">Link</a></dd>
</div>
{/if}
```
Also, to update the link when size changes, in the _changeImgSrc_ javascript code, add the line
```
jQuery('#direct-url').attr('href', url);
```
This then shows a Link in the picture info when an admin, and you can easily right click to get the URL. Or click to visit and copy the URL from the address bar.

@dcapslock awesome, thank you very much. I'll try this as soon as I have figured out how to create and use a custom theme.

Hi @tessus
give a try to plugin Piwishack http://piwigo.org/ext/extension_view.php?eid=324
This plugin does not show up in the list of available plugins.
Do I have to install it manually?
If you are on the hosting Piwigo.com ask them directly
If not, that due to the official compatibility : the author doesn't maintain the plugin but you can try it (yes install it manually) and if it doesn't work remove the folder
@flop25 nope, I run piwigo on my own server.
