If two files with the same basename but different extensions are uploaded by ftp + synchronization, then their pwg_representative images may overwrite each other.
Steps to reproduce: 1. Upload file1.tif
2. Create a pwg_representative for file1.tif with an extension 'jpg'
3. Upload file1.cr2
4. Create a pwg_representative for file1.cr2 with an extension 'jpg'
file1.tif's representative now silently is file1.cr2's representative.

This likely affects all versions of piwigo.

I was wondering if that was a real problem and other team members confirmed it was not really a problem, compared to the constraint of forcing to change file names.
Yes, and that's also the "problem" I encountered when I designed the multiple formats feature (for Piwigo 2.8) see http://piwigo.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=26087
