In order to improve integration in social networks.
In particular og:image on photo page (otherwise Google+/Facebook choose the first image on the page).

Why was this closed? The fact that og:image is one reason that networks like FB have trouble creating image previews

My apologies. I saw the "Closed" flag above and didn't realize it was referring to another issue.
Are there plans to support og:* tags?

If this can help with the implementation, there is https://piwigo.org/ext/extension_view.php?eid=889 but it feels a bit hacky; I managed to make it work on my end but it felt a bit clunky, it would be better if this was a core feature—enabled by default (because you can't really ignore social media these days) and designed to be simple to understand and manage (if not fully automatic).

@nekohayo I tried it out earlier, but it's for writing static OG data for various pages. Having some (non-hacky) method of generating OG data for galleries and single images seems like an absolute must-have feature in 2021. I couldn't decipher exactly what variables are available in the templates, but I guess it could be hacked in there somehow, but it should definitely be a core feature.

After some discussion, we've decided this should be handled in the plugin above rather than in the core. We may have to improve the plugin in the future.

+1 for this feature, long overdue :)
