During testing with end users, we noticed that the password reset form can be confusing.
The main issue is that it is not immediately obvious that there are two different password fields. Users often see the form as a single password entry field and miss the fact that the password must be entered a second time for confirmation.
The two fields look very similar and are not visually distinguished enough. As a result, some users do not understand why the form is rejected or why they are expected to enter the password twice.
It might help to improve the form by:
Making the two fields more visually distinct;
Using clearer labels such as "New password" and "Confirm new password";
Adding a short explanatory text indicating that the password must be entered twice.
This would improve the user experience, especially for less technical users that missed the point and didnt succeed in password recovery
