The uploadify jquery implementation tries to invoke a non-existing script called "uploadify-check-existing.php" in the root of Piwigo installation.
I have changed the definition inside of the jquery.uploadify.v3.0.0.min.js to "checkExisting:false" as it is in admin/themes/default/template/photos_add_direct.tpl. This avoids the invalid call to the non-existing script.

Maybe an update to uploadify 3.2 would fix this bug.
No longer valid, switched to plupload instead of uploadify in Piwigo 2.7
