On multiple instances of Piwigo, plugins simply don't work on a hosted server.

The (hosted) server is linux kernel version 3.10.0-962.3.2.lve1.5.63.el7.x86_64.
PHP Version 8.4. (8.3 and 7.3 don't work either)
Apache Version 2.4.63
MySQL Version 10.6.19-MariaDB-log

To see if an install was faulty, I did a new install using Softaculous from my host's Cpanel.
Added one folder and one photo after the install.

On the plugins page, all the default plugins are initially inactive. The only option for them each, is Delete.
When I try to delete one, it says it happened, but in a popup I see "an error occurred".

The 'plugins' DB table for that Piwigo instance is empty.
I added the Fotorama plugin, apparently successfully. The plugins DB table is still empty.

When I try to activate any plugin using the slider, it seems to work, but I get the "an error occurred" popup.
-The selection tabs of 'All', 'Activated', 'Deactivated' seem to work correctly.
Clicking on 'Settings' for any plugin, gives the "an error occurred" popup.

I installed Piwigo onto my local (at home Ubuntu/Apache/MySQL server), manually. That seems to do a lot better.
So apparently it is either the hosted server config, or the Softaculous install that is the problem.
I imagine a lot of Piwigo installs would be via Cpanel/Softaculous.

I should add, get a lot of deprecated warnings with PHP 8.4, which don't occur with 8.3.

After updating to the latest version getting also lost of deprecated warings:

Thanks, I have the exact same issue with the deprecation warnings showing up, but unfortunately the fix doesn't work. I also tried setting
$conf['show_php_errors_on_frontend'] = false;
but again, no effect.

I downgrade back to linuxserver/piwigo:15.5.0 and the plugin warnings are gone. But with the tag:latest the errors show up again!

@kwagnitz When the error appears, can you look in the network tab of your browser and share the response from the method? That will give us more information about the error.

@BobWs @j-zarp @lennvilardi I just reproduced the deprecated errors in 8.4. We'll fix the problem.

For information, we are currently working on an official Piwigo Docker image, so that we can provide our users with more in depth and well informed support.
