Then on piwigo download 2.10 and install manually

Hi. Thanks. I have Mysql8 installed now. I also now have mbstring listed in php.

But I keep getting asked to login again - everytime I try to navigate to a different page on the admin panel.

I can intermittently log on to the main admin.php page. And I can manage users (though when I tried to add a second admin, trying to update permissions, the 'update' button hangs, the circle keeps going... can't access plugins, maintenance, extension upgrades...

Also, the photo thumbnails are showing, but the main photos all just have a placeholder, .

Any assistance appreciated. Thanks.

EDIT - Using PHP 7.4.3-4ubuntu2.19. No insight from the log file either, just [DEBUG] [admin/intro::281] recent activity calculated in 0.001 s... And the error on screen is "You are not authorized to access the requested page" (I have admin rights).
