#1144 is a more general issue mixing several image file formats. Here I focus on HEIC support. As of August 2023, HEIC is absolutely not supported by all web browsers (only Safari) so the simple solution is to generate a JPEG representative of the *.heic file. Just like we do for *.pdf files.

Current versions of ImageMagick can do it.
