I've upgraded my Piwigo installation 13.3.0 from PHP 7.4 to PHP 8.1 and after doing so, the mobile app (Android) does not work any more. It stucks when trying to load the albums.

Enabled the PHP error log at the server and there is following message:
PHP Deprecated: strip_tags(): Passing null to parameter #1 ($string) of type string is deprecated in /www/htdocs/w00bce33/photo/include/ws_functions/pwg.categories.php on line 324

I have the same issue using Piwigo 13.3.0 after switching to php 8.1. I saw that my uploader did not upload any new images last night.

Using the API-Explorer, it can be reproduced quite easily:
Issue a GET-Request to ws.php?format=rest&method=pwg.categories.getList&recursive=true will return many
Deprecated: strip_tags(): Passing null to parameter #1 ($string) of type string is deprecated in /srv/www/include/ws_functions/pwg.categories.php on line 324 before outputting the requested content.

The restponseformat does not matter. The GUI just does not show anything when using json as there is a format issue with it.

I did disable all plugins to be sure that it is not a side effect of a plugin.

As my gallery is just private and internal, I just switch back to php 7.4.

Even if it's not a perfect solution, I've found a workaround by modifying the PHP error_reporting.
Simply change at local\config\config.inc.php:
$conf['show_php_errors'] = '0';
