Hi all,
I know this is not a "pure" Piwigo issue, rather an issue with an extension (MacShareToPiwigo) for some reason it does not work on the latest versions of Mac OS. I assume it simply needs to be re-compiled / re-deployed for it to work. How ever, after one year of waiting and repeatedly posting similar messages on the Piwigo Forum, I'm hoping that someone here could help out. (marcsins the original author of the MacShareToPiwigo Plugin seems to have "left Piwigo community".

[BTW: I'm need to get this fixed as I'm helping my 90 year old father to "conserve" his Photos in a form the whole family could use, and the best way to do this is IMHO: Piwigo]

I hope some one can help me out here...

Best regards
Yonz

I would be nervous using this software. First, Apple can and do evolve their Photos app, and each time they do, this application may need to be adjusted. Since it hasn't been updated since 2017, it probably just is no longer compatible with Photos. (In fact, Apple is probably motivated to make breaking changes to Photos precisely for this reason -- to shake off development of tools that allow you to circumvent using iCloud.) So the fact that this tool hasn't been updated since 2017, and also since the tool is not open source, and not much can be gleaned about the author, are all signals that this is not the sort of software you want on your computer. Even if it did ostensibly "work", there's no guarantee that the software is written safely (i.e. read-only), and it could mess up your library.

Thanks for you comment, however, your statements are not 100% correct. The "SendTo" function is a MacOS Function, has nothing to do with the Photos App itself. So using it will have absolutly no impact on the Photos Library (The App [here Photos] "Sends" objects out via the various connectors that implement the "SendTo Libraries"). The App stopped working on the latest version of MacOS (probably related to changes in security / signing of apps) and needs to be re-complied using the latest version of XCode, that's all. So I've got no problem to use it, and it would be great if someone could dig up the original Developer and see if this code could be re-complied, or made open-source for someone else to do it.

@yonz2 OK, help me out here please -- I genuinely want to understand this -- how does the MacShareToPiwigo know what to send from a Photos Library unless it contains logic to parse through the internals of that Photos Library? (Never used this app but I assume it does allow you to peruse and send objects direct from the Photos Library and not just a dir of files that you export to from the Library)

Simple.... First you select the items to "Share", Then you activate the "SendTo" or "Share" function in any Mac (or iPhone) application and select the "Share Extension" to use. The applications then uses MacOS Feature to pass the selected objects to the Extension. For details see the MacOS Developer Documentation available here:
