Impact of directly deleting photos in Piwigo Album #1340

Some of my albums have multiple copies of the same image with different file names and image size (these are images recovered using a recovery tool after a system crash)

So for example in an album Nature I have 1500 files of which I am absolutely sure 600 will be duplicates.

There are tools that can identify duplicate images and give the option to delete.

If I use this tool directly on the Piwigo storage folder and the images are deleted directly from the folder what will be the imact ? Are there entries in mysql table for individual images so when the image is not present I get to see an empty thumbnail ?

Any ideas or pointer in the right direction please.

If you delete files manually, they will be removed from piwigo the next time you use the 'synchronize' tool. I do this fairly frequently
