Yesterday we closed the path between Tucson and Phoenix AZ on 70 cm at BW125 SF7 CR6. The distance is about 134 km. Seems really solid. At the Tucson end, it was W0KJH who went up his mountain to modify the settings on his digi to match our network here in Phoenix.
This brings up an issue with the command ?ARPSSR. Neither he nor I live where the two intermediate digipeaters W0KJH-40 and SOMTNP are. The path is bidirectional N7UV-44 (my home station)<>SOMTNP<>W0KJH-40<>W0KJH-7 (his tracker/home station). I was hoping the command ?APRSSR would give me some insight into the link quality between the two intermediate digipeaters, but in fact it doesn't seem to work right even for the 22 km link between me and SOMTNP.
(BTW, my two nodes N7UV-44 and SOMTNP are both 1 W qpr-labs radios, running your FW, connected to gain omni antennas. I don't know about W0KJH's setup, but I suspect he's using omni antennas as well.)
I use PinPoint at home with the N7UV-44 digi as a network KISS-mode TNC. Here's a snippet from the PinPoint log when I issue the ?APRSSR command at my end. I send the command via Pinpoint
This is what I see via the PinPoint comms monitor:
The command went out from N7UV (my PinPoint callsign), SOMTNP received and ack'ed it, then returned with the strange response
SOMTNP>APLRG1,RFONLY,WIDE2-2::N7UV : 0dBm / 0.00dB / 0Hz za
which doesn't make sense. The link between my QTH and SOMTNP measured at my end is a consistent -61 dBm RSSI and +13 dB SNR. I'd expect similar at the SOMTNP end of the link, not 0 dBm / 0 dB SNR. That's the first issue with ?APRSSR.
The next one is more of a request. I would like ?APRSSR to report back perhaps the last 10 received packets at the SOMTNP site, since what I'm looking for is the RSSI/SNR for a previous packet SOMTNP received from the W0KJH-40 digipeater. In fact, it'd be great to have the ability to specify how many receive reports I'd like to hear, like ?APRSSR 10 for the last 10 received packets, or something like that.
Hopefully my request makes sense!
Cheers and 73 - Jon N7UV

I started seeing this also with sx1268 (1W modules) as they weren't showing good SNR readings as expected.
will try to check with he library creator/developer about it

I am using this thread to inform about another issue I found with the query ?APRSSR
Recently I tried all different QUERIES and found out that when I type in ?APRS? the I get the response:
The answer text says ?APRSSSR (does not work) instead of ?APRSSR (which works and is also mentioned in the manual).
So please do change the automated answer text from ?APRSSSR to ?APRSSR
