what other configurations changes did you do on the igate WebConfiguration page?
maybe something is blocking the saving part of the code

Hi, I can change description and save it with no problem. Sorry, I was wrong, it is a blue (not black) circle and I no chance save it. It switches to anything else when I select any different option from drop down menu, but after saving and restarting it is back to the previous icon. If I change description and save it after restart it is saved. On 1 Jun 2025 13:30, "Ricardo Guzman (Richonguzman)" @.***> wrote:richonguzman left a comment (richonguzman/LoRa_APRS_iGate#290)

are you using google chrome web-browser? did you refresh the web-page once it gets back connected? sometimes its a cache thing on the browser

I am running slightly customized versions of 2025.03.20 as igate/digi. I followed the link you provided to the pdf. I just checked whether I can change the icon and it seems to work for me. I can change the icons from red diamond to blue circle and back again, as well as the other 2 icon values offered. My stations are pax counters and have no weather function.
My customizations are specifically in increasing the range of LoRa configuration parameters, I have not as far as I know tampered with anything that would affect the icon selection.
Have you been able to resolve the issue?
Cheers and 73 - Jon N7UV

I know (kind of) what is wrong!!! The icon changes from red to blue when I switch on WX Telemetry. Once it is deactivated – I get back the red icon.

This is intentional. aprs.fi will only diplay your WX info if your symbol is a blue L (it is a decision that they made). So Ricardo's firmware will automatically switch to a blue L if your WX sensor is switched on in the configuration.

I finally understand now what PPR was on about - I too want my digis to show green digi stars even though they also deliver limited weather data. I ran into this last weekend when setting up a new digi in the field.
Why the restriction? A user should know that a device on the map is a digipeater, even if it has a weather station attached. I am using for a couple of my digi sites the qrp-labs lora solar light unit and it has a simple weather sensor. If I have to turn off the weather sensor in order to get a green star, then I will do that. It's unfortunate that the device cannot also report weather just because I want it to advertise as a digipeater.
The observation that aprs.fi won't report the weather data is not particularly material to me - I want to know the temperature inside the digipeater box, due in no small part to the presence of the lithium ion batteries, and that sensor is the only way to get it.
I would think it's better to explain how aprs.fi works and allow the operator do determine the best course of action for their own site. Or make temperature a telemetry value as it's really an internal temperature and may have little to do with the outside environment, especially for the qrp-labs equipment.

this is exactly a proposal i want to push soon:
have telemetry with regular symbols but not as Wx Station... to have another way to see data over time even though you don't want it to be recognized as a Wx Data Station. Regular Telemetry will be added as a possibility .
Right now to make aprs.fi decode the Wx Packet you need to have the blue circle + L running.

so all is working fine with Red Diamond, but as soon as you save with new symbol it gets not saved? that's the only problem?

this is really strange as nothing is blocking the selection of the symbols in the code at all
are you using google chrome web-browser? did you refresh the web-page once it gets back connected? sometimes its a cache thing on the browser
I tried two different computers, all the same. If it is a problem just for me, please do not worry. I tought I found a “global” problem. I can live with the problem :)
Many thanks!!!

i like to find out what's going on with your selection
(selection should be saved no matter what on the configuration before re-booting)
Ok, thank you. I did not want to waste your time as I fought it is just on my device. So how can I start diagnosing?

Hi there M0PPR -
I am running slightly customized versions of 2025.03.20 as igate/digi.

I had no clue about it, thank you!!!On 20 Jul 2025 17:31, S57PNX @.***> wrote:S57PNX left a comment (richonguzman/LoRa_APRS_iGate#290)

Hi John,
this is exactly a proposal i want to push soon:
have telemetry with regular symbols but not as Wx Station... to have another way to see data over time even though you don't want it to be recognized as a Wx Data Station. Regular Telemetry will be added as a possibility .
Right now to make aprs.fi decode the Wx Packet you need to have the blue circle + L running.
