I am trying to setup an offgrid system for SAR purposes: laptop with a Lora32 acting as a TNC and multiple trackers. There is no wifi nor internet in this area. I plan to use Pinpoint APRS as my mapping software.
This setup works great if I use "network KISS mode" in Pinpoint:
But I prefer a direct serial connection between the laptop and iGate, for practical reasons (no wifi available).
This setup doesn't work for me, I tried many combinations of bitrate, flow control etc. If I connect to the serial port with TeraTerm using these settings, I see some binary traffic every time a packet is received. With Pinpoint, the same traffic isn't received, sometimes Pinpoint even crashes, and some times even the iGate crashes. I tried different combinations of these switches in iGate gui:
My question is, can anybody share their experiences with CA2RXU iGate as a serial TNC (with Pinpoint or even other clients)?

@S57PNX, serial KISS port is shared with Serial port used to debug. This serial KISS output contaminated with debug Serial.print() output from all around the project code and may be even from libs so even if you replace in the code all Serial.print() with UTILS::print() there are no guaranties that RadioLib etc will not send some debug too. The only way out is separated USB-to-Serial interface, connected to pins dedicated for serial KISS.

@UT2UH dedicated Serial interface for KISS is a good idea. combined with a second device there could be cross-digipeating then
@S57PNX I am using it with xastir and that works

@UT2UH I stay with my https://github.com/ploeffler/LoRa_APRS_iGate ...more into that bi-directional stuff atm

I have been attempting to use my paxcounter V1.6.1 with the CA2RXU digi code as a TNC connected to my truck computer via serial USB. Sounds like the serial via USB has been an issue for others as well! I'm running YAAC and just want to see the contents of all packets received, not just what shows up on the screen. Unfortunately, I've never been able to get the serial KISS function working except in test mode.
@ploeffler I've only just seen your code, does this replace Ricardo's build?
Cheers and 73 - Jon N7UV

Tested this the other day with Heltec Tracker board and Pinpoint software. Whenever I enable serialkiss, the USB is resetting anf Pinpoint software crash.

So nobody is using their iGate as a KISS TNC?

@ploeffler, will you accept several PRs next week? ) including timezones...
